A Long Time Coming: Masy Secures EYAA Funding To Drive Project

After many revisions, meetings, and discussions, Masy Consultants is delighted to announce its success in receiving funding for the eMpowering Youths Across ASEAN (EYAA) Programme Cohort 2. This backing, driven by the ASEAN Foundation and Maybank Foundation, will help Masy implement a life-changing pitch that has been cultivated for over two years.

Since 2020, the pitch has carefully evaluated realistic strategies that would elevate WASH services in affected barangays, or villages, within the Philippines. Despite being well-received, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic delayed its implementation and led to several revisions that addressed new challenges and ensured the program could be conducted in a COVID-safe manner. With this affirmation of support and funding through the EYAA programme, Masy may now bring to life a program that promotes self-sufficiency and improves WASH behaviours to directly benefit the lives of those that need it most.

This win has been in the making for quite some time. Established in 2017 by Thomas Da Jose and Sir Edwin Mangunay, Masy Consultants aspired to bring sustainable solutions to communities in need, as well as providing a client-based service for Australian enterprises looking to enter the Philippines. Over the years, they have managed to consolidate teams in both Australia and the Philippines, strengthening their capabilities on a regional platform. In spite of the pandemic, Masy has been able to pivot its focus to delivering digital services, recently hosting the STEM Future Leaders Training Program series to nurture intercultural collaboration among STEM professionals, while still maintaining on-the-ground activities conducted by its Filipino team.

This program aims to showcase the eagerness for Australians to closely connect with the Philippines and the broader ASEAN region. Support for programs like these can pave the way for a new scale of social, financial and educational cooperation, one that highlights the innovation that Australian collaboration can provide for those in need, and the role that connectedness can play in helping to build the next generation of Filipino STEM professionals.
